This section presents biofuels policy, trends and demand projections covering the regions of North America, Latin America, Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Asia-Pacific and Africa. It was prepared in cooperation with Hart Energy’s Global Biofuels Center (GBC), and incorporates current and future policies expected to be implemented during the study period and outlook analyses to 2035 for ethanol and biodiesel.

The Middle East region is not included in this review because there are no mandates or set policies driving biofuels use in place at this time. However, the Dubai Police and McDonald’s UAE have announced separate initiatives to use biodiesel in their fleets with waste cooking oil as feedstock. The Dubai Police initiative is supported by Lootah Biofuels, which is producing and using a B5 blend to power its heavy truck fleet. Gargash Enterprises has also announced plans to adapt its internal commercial vehicle fleet to use biodiesel blends.
